Mariachi Youth Program

For more than 10 years, our Mariachi Youth Program has put bi-lingual instructors in the public schools teaching from a standards-based curriculum that uses a theory-based approach to teach traditional, culturally-specific music. The result is students who are excited about music and excited about learning. Students choose to master the trumpet, violin, guitar, guitarrón or vihuela. All students also receive instruction in voice and ensemble musicianship. The school year culminates in a Son y Tradicíon recital at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, which is open to friends, family, and the greater public.
