The march in honor of César Chávez is a fitting, living memorial to the non-violent movement in the quest for civil rights led by César, Dolores Huerta and the United Farmworkers. It is appropriate that this event initiates at the Plaza, the site of César's first boycott in the days before the Plaza was located here. None of the marches was complete without music and entertainment -- we look forward to a Plaza debut of La Colectiva, a talented musical group rooted in our East Side neighborhood, at the free concert following the March.
