The San José Mariachi and Mexican Heritage Festival is seeking male and female folkloric dancers to perform as part of the Noche de Serenata Gala Concert on Saturday, September 25th, at 8:00 pm at the San José State Event Center. Some of the female dancers may also perform short narratives during the concert, so female auditioners may be asked to read a few lines.
Auditions will be run by choreographer Susan Cashion, focusing on Norteño dance. Entitled Adelita! The Women of the Mexican Revolution, this concert will be an original, theatrical event that uses traditional and contemporary Mexican music and dance to evoke the passions, history and drama of the Mexican Revolution, through the eyes of the soldaderas, featuring world-class headliners.
